Sunday Snow

A great many years ago, when churches like this were the norm, snowy Sunday mornings entailed a lot of work.  Get up, add wood to the stove, put on the coffee pot, clean up, get dressed, go to the barn to take care of the animals, hitch up the horse, get the family into the buggy, and of course, the 4 or 5 mile ride to get to church.
Today, we view these old churches with a bit of nostalgia for the “good old days”.  A time when things were simpler and less complicated. A time without our IPhones, computers, automobiles, and let us not forget, central heating & indoor plumbing.  Ahh, the good old days……..       Let’s just enjoy the view and a little nostalgia before we get in our cars and go home to our comforts.

Chapel Ridge Church-Revisited

The weather person said that yesterday
was to be rain/ thunderstorms.
So of course, I had to go out with my camera.

For the entire 90 min drive I was watching
the sky become more & more ominous.

It seemed to peak just as I reached this
church-on-the-hill and set up the camera.

Unfortunately, the sky soon began
to clear and the day became
bright and sunny.
Which brought out the tourists and
raised the brightness range to a
point of no photos.

Ah well, it was a good day for a
little while.

Waiting For The Message

A seldom seen church.
Back off the  road,
up on a hill, surrounded by trees,
not seen by the casual tourist who
roars past at 10 mph over the limit.

Is it still used? I do not know.
It has been restored, but used??

I wonder what happened to the people
who once sat here waiting for the message.
Waiting to have the God of their understandings
reinforced and explained by the pastor.
