Dogwood Delight

While waiting for the students to arrive last night I saw the sun lighting
up our front yard Dogwood which has now bloomed.  Of course, a few images
were in order.
One of the things that photo students enjoy is close-ups of flowers and
we do cover it in class.
Just as a reminder, the new term of photo classes begins the week of
May 7th….so, if you want to learn photography in a creative environment

Urban Redbud

I saw this vignette on the way to a location
portrait shoot with my photo class.
All the students had gone ahead and I was making up time
by going a different route.
It looked really nice but the light was not there
and I was in a hurry……
So, the next day, when the light was right.
I was there.  A beat-up old building that
would be unremarkable except for the
spring bloom.     Enjoy!

Spring At The Corner Of Hill & Detroit

We were here last night with the advanced class.
Learning  the “how to” of location portraits.
Umbrellas, flashes, light stands, tripods, and cameras…
a lot of gear to lug around..but worth it with good results. 
Spring has arrived and the flashes are flashing.

Spring Flowers

In my neighborhood things are looking a lot like spring.
The trees are in bloom, flowers dot the front lawns,
and the photo students are outside once again.

Spring On The Lane

Spring is here. The birds are chirping.
The crocuses and daffodils are blooming.
Here in Ohio the sun is shining and the temps are in the 70′s.
And, my spring term classes started last week.
A great group of students this term.
All of them are ready and willing to learn.
What a great way to start spring!

Remembering Last Year

As I sit here in my office, looking out the window at the 60* weather we are having, I think back to last year at this time.  A much different look to the outdoors.
Better or worse?  You decide.  For me, I will take the overcast and snow in preference to the nasty and boring clear blue sky that holds no photographic interest for me.
Of course, I have never had to shovel a clear blue sky……

Just a side note: The classes are filling up fast for the March/April term. If you want a place in class you need to let me know.

January Up Date

So, it has been 26 days since my last blog entry.  I am getting questions like, what is going on  and where are you.

This  has been a strange January.  Normally, by this time I would expect to have been snow bound for at least a week,  have taken a lot of white photos of new snow which would have been posted, have spent a lot of time wondering where  my next portrait session would come from, and in general have had a ton of time on my hands.

However, none of that happened this month.

This has been one of my busy months.  Classes are going well, clients are calling, old friends are keeping in touch, no snow, no ice, not very cold, no need to be stuck in the house, and not enough time to get everything done.

This is a good thing….but, I can’t help wondering if the “crash” will come in July when I am normally swamped.  lol

 

A reminder:  classes are already filling up for the March – April term which starts March 5th.  So, if you are interested in being a part of one of the classes act now!

Happy New Year

It is a new year.
A time when I  think about growing and changing.
A time when I look back over the past year
to see what progress I have made.
Am I a better photographer?  A better business man?
Am I a better person?  A better artist?  A better friend?
A better lover?  A better teacher?
Is there a real difference in any of the above?
OK, that is enough introspection….
time to go make images…..
